Policy and policies of UNASUR: institutionality and political challenges
Abstract
The paper explores three central dimensions of UNASUR. On the one hand, the performance and the role that up to the present time this organism has played in relation to the conflicts and the defense of the democracy in the region. In order to do so, it analyzes the actions and interventions of the organization that have benefitted the maintenance of peace in South America. Second, the work addresses the agenda of problems and actions of its executive body, the General Secretariat, in order to show its work and evolution of its policy issues. Finally, the paper investigates the outstanding role of infrastructure integration and the advances and challenges presented to the organization
