Control the Crime, Control the Company. Theories and debates about the criminal issue, from the 17th to the 21st century
Abstract
There has been a lot of talk about security and it has been debated
moreover, but solid arguments such as
found in the book Controlar el Delito,
Control the Society, they are not so frequent. The author
of this work, Dario Melossi, delights us with a
very interesting thesis: the criminal processes and
the reproductive order of society are found
inextricably linked
The book is structured in three parts
main. The first corresponds to a
theoretical reading of the approach of the first criminologists
or sociologists regarding the penalty and the deviation.
From Beccaria to Durkheim all
Classic authors pass through Melossi's pen. The
different scholars started from the need to
create a theory that explains crime as a
deviation to the social contract. In this sense, as
the author explains, capitalism and the penitentiary system,
as well as specialized literature in
criminology can not be studied separately.
