Rural development and the constitution of new categories of government subjects: the case of the Agricultural Social Program (1993-2013)
Abstract
The following article inquires on the production of subjects of rural development from the analysis of the Agricultural Social Program (PSA), a state policy that was developed in Argentina between 1993 and 2013. Its goal is to grasp, through a selection of official documents produced by PSA, how the beneficiaries of this particular government policy are constituted by means of what conceptual dimensions; changes experienced by them during the twenty-years long implementation of PSA. Our purpose is to account for the mechanisms through which state policies have the function of assigning identities to categories of people, creating and re-creating them through the production of specific devices.
