“Policy design” approach. Antecedents and tools for public policies analysis.
Abstract
Studies on public policy have achieved a great development in Political Science from the second half of the twentieth century on. Within the various approaches to the study of policies, this paper focuses on that of “Policy Design”, presenting its antecedents, the first works and lines of research in the approach, the linkages among policy actors, rules and modes of governance, and contributions to the approach from some neo-institutionalist proposals. Closing the article, some of the points of agreement and some limitations are listed, and a current state of the approach is presented.
