From Menem to Milei: ¿old wine in new wineskins? State reform and controversies over hegemony in current Argentina
Abstract
The article attempts to account of the affini ties and contrasts of Carlos Menem’s government state reform in the early nineties vis-á-vis the current reform proposal promoted by the government of Javier Milei. Re lying on a neo-gramscian analysis of the relations of forces at both those former years and the current context of the State restructuring project and the hegemonic dispute that underlies both moments, we focus on local, regional and global levels in order to reach a characterization of the effective conditions and the type of State reform Milei is trying to implement, taking into account the deep crisis that Argentina is currently going through.
