Abstract

Small producers predominate in the Argentine sheep sec tor for whom the learning processes are developed with a central participation of public institutions for the adoption of appropriate technologies and as sources of generation of applied knowledge. To identify the relationship between the actors and the knowledge circulation established in the transfer processes of Science, technology and innovation) S&TI and the intervention patterns of the sheep sector, the functional model of innovation systems was applied. Various types of public policies in S&T were found that offer opportunities to the sector; different levels and mo dalities of participation of S&TI and linkage between the different groups of actors involved in the sheep sector (flows of knowledge and technology, financing and shared use of equipment and human resources). The analysis of the system of relationships in the sector made it possible to describe the connection between the actors, facilitating the identification of problems and opportunities around the circulation of knowledge.
