Autonomy, developent, integration: the cases of Argentina and Brazil
Abstract
This study focuses on the way Argentina and Brazil approached questions of autonomy, development and integration during the stages of world system bipolarity and market globalization. During the former, both countries dealt with attempts at autonomy with regard to the international system, and development, as issues separated from integration, while in recent years the concept of development has been closely related to South America’s autonomy and integration. This work’s hypothesis states that given the current context of the world system as well the prevailing type of post-Neoliberal governments, the goal of autonomy, both in Argentina and brazil, can only be achieved and sustained within the framework of development processes that complement themselves thus leading to the implementation of projects of political alliance and economic integration.
