Abstract

This study focuses on knowledge management in public high er education institutions located in San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina, from both theoretical and empirical perspectives. A mixed-method approach was applied, combining documen tary analysis and a validated questionnaire administered to academic authorities at three institutions. The results show an intermediate level of maturity in knowledge management, with strengths in application and use, and weaknesses in knowledge creation and storage. Notable practices include fac ulty training and professional autonomy, although deficien cies persist in information systematization and institutional coordination. The study concludes that the analyzed institu tions have significant potential to strengthen more effective knowledge management systems, which requires institutional policies, technological investment, and the development of a collaborative organizational culture.
