The (absent) gender dimension in the public policy on Popular and Solidarity Economy in Ecuador
Abstract
This paper analyzes the public policy of popular and solidarity economy implemented by the Ecuadorian government of President Rafael Correa (2007-2012) questioning the existence or not of a mainstreaming and gender redistributional approach, from the conceptual perspectives advanced by Judith Astelarra and Nancy Fraser conceptualization of these terms.
The evidence stemming from the interviews made to key actors in the formulation and implementation of this policy supports the hypothesis that a gender approach is, for the time being, absent from both the definition and implementation of this policy, although there is conceptual openness to its inclusion.
