El curador como intermediario cultural

Abstract


This article explores the emergence and consolidation of the curator in
contemporary art. It examines the impact of external and internal factors
in the development of a new type of cultural mediator between producers
and audiences. This phenomenon of a global nature, was translated at
a later time, and with singular characteristic in Argentina. In the context
of a generation and artistic movement that had been established outside
of institutional competence, there were three types of curators (artists, independent and institutional), whose curatorial discourses took conflicting forms. the consolidation of the curator was developed over a period of professionalization and institutionalization. 'is process changed the relationship between actors, roles and the power of legitimacy.
