Abstract

Subjective Well-being and Human Development in Adults Who Dance in Medellín is a mixed-methods study that aims to analyze the dance practices carried out by adults who frequently and systematically attend dance venues, specifically in nightclub formats where porro marcado and milongas are danced in Medellín. More specifically, it seeks to understand the relationship between these dance practices, subjective well-being, and human development.  The research aims to generate knowledge from a social and cultural perspective with an educational focus, regarding the potential that embodied dance practices bring within concrete social and cultural contexts. It also seeks to contribute to the understanding of subjective well-being and human development through such a singular phenomenon as the widespread practice of dance in Medellín, and to advance its comprehension both to inform possible discourses in the social sciences and to contribute to the arts (dance studies) and health from a social and cultural perspective.
