Historia de la Revista

Perspectivas Metodológicas, ISSN 1666-3055 / eISSN 2618-4125, is an open-access scientific journal published annually by the Master’s Degree Program in Scientific Research Methodology of the Department of Humanities and Arts at the National University of Lanús. It publishes one volume and one issue per year, to which papers that complete the editorial process are progressively added until the issue corresponding to the following year is opened.

Since its foundation in 2000, the journal has established itself as a pluralistic and open forum for the exchange of ideas among local, national, and international researchers from a wide range of disciplines and schools of thought, focusing on issues related to Methodology and the Philosophy of Science, social practices, and the ethical dimension that underlies them.

During its early years, the journal was published in print format. Beginning with issue No. 17, it adopted a digital format and a model based on the progressive incorporation of papers into the current annual issue. This system allows articles to be published once the peer-review and editorial processes have been completed, without the need to wait for the entire issue to be closed, thereby facilitating a more agile circulation of academic knowledge.

Since that issue, the journal has been published exclusively through the “Arturo Peña Lillo” Scientific Journals Portal of the National University of Lanús and assigns a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to all its articles. ORCID identifiers for authors and contributors have also been incorporated.

During this new stage, the journal also introduced the Dossier section, whose main contents derive from the Working Papers of the Specialization Program in Scientific Research Methodology and the Center for Research on Scientific Theories and Practices (UNLa). This section brings together works related to scientific and academic research in all areas of knowledge, including management reports, project communications, and outreach activities.

The journal is structured around four permanent sections:

  • Articles: original contributions by specialists on topics relevant to epistemology and the social sciences and humanities.
  • Perspectives: brief critical studies focusing on current debates of philosophical, methodological, or scientific interest.
  • Research: progress reports and findings from ongoing or completed empirical research.
  • Reviews: critical reviews of recent publications.

Since issue No. 5, Perspectivas Metodológicas has been indexed in Latindex. Over time, it has expanded its presence in databases and indexing systems such as LatinREV, EBSCO, and Dialnet, and it is currently undergoing evaluation for inclusion in other national and international scientific journal indexes and directories.

The journal provides full digital access to all issues previously published in print and continues to strengthen its position as a scientific publication of reference in Latin America. Its editorial policy is characterized by academic rigor, ethical commitment, and the active promotion of the democratization of knowledge.
