This call for Salud Colectiva is fully dedicated to childhood and adolescence, adopting an inherently plural and diverse perspective on these initial phases of human life. These stages require differentiated and specific approaches in many respects.
In a world marked by the exacerbation of inequalities in living conditions, exacerbated by the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and long-standing as well as recent wars, the focal point of the social issue becomes food production. This is coupled with high levels of poverty in households and informality in employment, especially in so-called emerging countries. These factors contribute to an increase in the vulnerability of children and adolescents.
In this context, facing political proposals suggesting a clear regression in the protection of the rights of minorities and vulnerable populations, tensions escalate due to the growing educational needs arising from virtualization. There is an urgent need to persist in eradicating child labor and ensuring the protection of adolescent labor. Thus, the specific and singular impact of any social process of inequality and exclusion on child and adolescent populations is evident in all areas. This calls for a careful approach from the global perspectives of ethics, politics, and the epistemology of child and adolescent human rights, often, if not always, rendered invisible in the interests of age hegemonic groups, among others.
These concerns are exacerbated by the post-pandemic situation, which permeates all aspects of life. Therefore, it is crucial that proposals take into account the global transformative element of the pandemic and the resulting international landscape, emphasizing this aspect as central and illustrating its impact on contemporary societies. Additionally, all of this adds to the anthropocenic dimension of interconnection in all processes, which is revealed to be crucial, more than ever, in child and adolescent populations.
With a deeply inter- and multidisciplinary perspective, this call welcomes proposals from diverse knowledge areas, including humanities, social sciences, health-care sciences, and legal studies, among others, in a very broad sense. Likewise, we encourage the submission of studies employing empirical as well as propaedeutic, philosophical, or speculative approaches.

As of 2019, the journal accepts works previously deposited in the preprint platforms SocArXiv, bioRxiv, arXiv, PsyArXiv or SciELO Preprints. All manuscripts will be subject to a preliminary review to determine whether the article meets the goals, editorial policies and standards of the journal. If the article is deemed eligible in this pre-evaluation, the authors will be notified and the peer review process will commence. Regardless of the submission language, works accepted will be published in Spanish or bilingually in both English and Spanish [see Submission and publication languages]. The journal covers the costs of editing, publishing and distribution, and authors must cover the costs of translation.
All works must be submitted via the journal website using the option. For more details, see “How to submit your paper." The basic formal requirements are as follows:

Open Access policy: Salud Colectiva ratifies the Open Access model in which scientific publications are made freely available in full text online, with no embargo periods and with no publication costs falling on the authors. Authors are offered full access to the final published versions so as to include them in institutional repositories. All of the material included in Salud Colectiva is published under a Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).
