The International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes is the primary international regulatory framework for protecting breastfeeding from the marketing practices of infant formula and other related products. This study aimed to characterize the extent to which the Code has been incorporated into Argentina’s regulatory framework and to synthesize the available evidence on its monitoring and implementation. To this end, between May 2024 and May 2026, a narrative review was conducted of legal documents, international reports, grey literature, and scientific publications related to the Code in Argentina, followed by a content analysis. The review identified 20 World Health Assembly resolutions related to the Code, seven global reports on the status of the Code in national legislation, one regional report covering Latin America and the Caribbean, eight Argentine regulations related to the Code, and 27 publications on monitoring and implementation. The analysis showed that Argentina has incorporated most of the Code’s provisions and is currently classified as substantially aligned with the international standard. However, regulatory gaps remain, particularly regarding the extension of its scope to 36 months of age, the comprehensive prohibition of conflicts of interest within the health system, and industry involvement in educational materials. Published monitoring studies documented violations involving digital marketing, labeling, cross-promotion, points of sale, and healthcare facilities.
